Our Goals

Doctrine of Faith

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

The educational philosophy of Mountain Christian School is based on a God-centered view of the truth and man as presented in the Bible. Since God created all things and sustains all things through His Son, Jesus Christ, the universe and all life are dynamically related to God and have the purpose of glorifying Him. Mankind, made in God's image, is different in kind from all other creation in that he has the unique capacity to know and to respond to God personally and voluntarily. Because man is sinful by nature and choice, he cannot in this condition know or honor God in his life. He can glorify God only by being born again through receiving Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord. Through Christ, man is enabled to do God's will. The entire process of education is seen as a means by which the Holy Spirit brings the student into fellowship with God, develops a Christian mind in him, and trains him in godly living, so that the student can fulfill God's total purpose for his life.

The student must be taught the Bible so that he may understand God as well as his own nature and role in God's image.

The student must relate to God and develop as a whole person - spiritually, mentally, physically and socially.

The student must learn to recognize all truth as God?s truth and use God's Word as the standard by which all interpretation and integration takes place.

The student must be educated as an individual with his own unique abilities and personality as one who must learn to live and work with others at home, in the church and in a changing secular society.

The student must interact with, and be taught by, the parent/guardian and teacher models who are themselves born again and have this perspective on life.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God.
2 Timothy 3:15, 2 Peter 1:21

We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30

We believe that God is the absolute and sole Creator of the universe, and that creation was by divine order, not through an evolutionary process.
Genesis 1:1-27, John 1:1-2, Colossians 1:16-17

We believe in:

  • The deity of Christ
    John 10:33
  • His virgin birth
    Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35
  • His sinless life
    Hebrews 4:15, 7:26
  • His miracles
    John 2:11
  • His vicarious and atoning death
    1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9
  • His resurrection
    John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4
  • His ascension to the right hand of the Father
    Mark 16:19
  • His personal return in power and glory
    Acts 1:11, Revelations 19:11

We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the sinfulness of human nature and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and that only by God's grace and through faith alone we are saved.
John 3:16, 5:24, Romans 3:23, 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:9, Titus 3:5

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
Romans 8:13-14, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20, Ephesians 4:30, 5:18

Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality

In view of our commitment to training students in a Christian worldview, we believe that God immutably and wonderfully creates each individual person as either male or female (Psalm 139:14).  These two distinct, complementary genders reflect the image and nature of God their creator (Genesis 1:26-27). We believe that rejections of one’s biological sex is ultimately a rejection of God’s sovereign plan for one’s life.  At MCS, any efforts to deny one’s biological sex through speech, jokes, modes of dress, chemical intervention, or surgical procedures are considered inappropriate and impermissible.

We believe that marriage has only one scriptural meaning - the uniting of one biological man and one biological woman in a single, exclusive union as described in scripture (Gen. 2:18-25).  We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to happen only within the sacred bounds of marriage (1 Cor. 6:18, Heb. 13:4).  We believe that God’s command is for no sexual activity to occur outside of a marriage between one man and one woman.

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, use of pornography, etc). is sinful and offensive to God (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

We believe that God is gracious and offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His forgiveness and mercy offered through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10).  We believe that every person must be freely given compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior toward any person is not in line with Scripture and should be repudiated.

The scriptural and philosophical goal of Mountain Christian School is to develop students into mature, Christlike individuals who will be able to exhibit a Christlike life. Of necessity, this involves the school’s understanding and belief of what qualities or characteristics exemplify a Christlike life and Biblical worldview.  Even though parents may not support all tenets of a Biblical worldview, while enrolled at Mountain Christian School, all students are expected to exhibit the qualities of a Christlike life  and Biblical worldview espoused and taught by the school and to refrain from certain activities, behavior, and attitudes.  Thus, Mountain Christian School retains the right to refuse enrollment to or to expel any student who engages in sexual immorality, including any student who professes to be homosexual/bisexual or is a practicing homosexual/bisexual, as well as any student who condones or promotes such practices (Lev. 20:13; Romans 1:27).
